Tie̜-vreftu Kez (/tje̜/ /ˈvreftu/ [lunch] [defense]) is a temperate Town located in the Skruvnōk Moot of the Viceroyalty of Rosid.

The name Tie̜-vreftu Kez is derived from the Wood Elvish language, as Tie̜-vreftu Kez was founded by Khèb Tumrodu, who was culturaly Wood Elven.

Climate

Tie̜-vreftu Kez has a yearly average temperature of 6°C (42°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a cool 14°C (57°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a freezing -2°C (29°F). Tie̜-vreftu Kez receives an average of 267 cm/y (105 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of snow during the pleasantly short winter months. Tie̜-vreftu Kez covers an area of nearly 5 km2 (2 mi2), and an average elevation of 1542 m (5059 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Tie̜-vreftu Kez was founded durring the late 12th century in summer of the year 1073, by Khèb Tumrodu. The establishment of Tie̜-vreftu Kez was only bairly constructed. The sheer number of problems with its founding were enough to make several of the backers funding Tie̜-vreftu Kez's construction back out of the project. Khèb Tumrodu pushed on reguardles, and Tie̜-vreftu Kez was finished, but starts off as a terible place to live.

Tie̜-vreftu Kez was built using the conventions of Wood Elven durring the late 12th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Tie̜-vreftu Kez is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature delicute timber framework hidden behind layer upon layer of finly ground plaster bleached to an almost glossy white sheen, with green clay tiled roofs and decorative brass-leafed trim. Even the smallest, poorest looking structures appear to be expencive thanks to the extreem elegence of the organic shapes and paterns going into their lofty, spire-y, vagly gothic designs. The more well off folks live in identicle homes, save for even shiner trim and a more whimsical appearance to their structures flowing forms.

Tie̜-vreftu Kez is buildings are arranged within a network of broad flagstone streets which form a rectangular grid, where each block verries in size given the proximity of the paralell streets forming each section. The ocasional smaller block has been used to construct a park, plaza, and other communal structures. The town emploies a series of defencive earthworks, spikes, and fences to provide some protection against wild beasts and smaller groups of intelegent foes. The minimaly adiquite have not been wellmaintained over the years, and while functional are in dire need of some loving care and perhapse light renovation.

Tie̜-vreftu Kez is not quite well. Something happened here, perhapse recently, perhapse long ago. Whatever it was, it settled into the very soul of the town like a festering wound. The people go about their day well enough, but there’s a tention in the air you can cut with a knife. You get the terrible feeling that whatever it was, the wound it left will simply never heal. This town is as a necropolice.

Civic Infrastructure

Tie̜-vreftu Kez has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within Tie̜-vreftu Kez. They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for Tie̜-vreftu Kez's parks.

Tie̜-vreftu Kez has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Tie̜-vreftu Kez.

Tie̜-vreftu Kez has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.

Tie̜-vreftu Kez has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Tie̜-vreftu Kez has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Tie̜-vreftu Kez's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Tie̜-vreftu Kez has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Tie̜-vreftu Kez's natural decorations nor waterways.

Tie̜-vreftu Kez has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Tie̜-vreftu Kez has a public septic system, which allows its citizens to have indoor bathrooms. The septic system is overseen by the League of Sewerkeepers, who posses the legal authority to enforce all laws relating to the septic system, and are also tasked with its maintenance and upkeep.

Cultural Notes

Tie̜-vreftu Kez's bank was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is inspired by the natural world, characterized by sinuous, sculptural, organic shapes, arches, curving lines, and sensual ornamentation. Common motifs included stylized versions of leaves, flowers, vines, insects, animals, and other natural elements. Decorative elements found on the inside and outside of buildings include intricate mosaic work, curved windows, and decorative trim work. .

Due to the actions of local Kami, winter is short in Tie̜-vreftu Kez.

The Chaneque near Tie̜-vreftu Kez are known to be quite timid.

Tie̜-vreftu Kez's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in spring and involves bloodletting to channel Elven High Magic energies of tier 1 via guttural bellowing.

Economy

It may be swampy ground or a decaying coastline, or it could be an ancient buried city that’s now giving way. In the case of some antique habitation, the denizens that once lived there might be boiling upward as their home is collapsing, or new opportunities may be revealed even as the community’s present structure is ruined.

Tie̜-vreftu Kez makes use of canals for some of its streets. Locals often fish in the canals.

History

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the late 2nd century the Kami spared the town from the rampage of a legendary monster. One of Tie̜-vreftu Kez's local festivals commemorates this miracle.
